Grapes - Useful and FODMAP-Friendly

April 15, 2024

The FODMAP-friendly grape contains both vitamin C and antioxidants that help protect the cells in the body. They contain fiber, which is good for digestion, and are perfect when you need a quick energy boost since they are rich in grape sugar or glucose.

What about the skin? Well, some people may react to the skin, but it often concerns those who have gallbladder issues. Grapes do not ferment in the stomach. Some analyses have shown high levels of pesticides in the skin, so it’s best to choose organic if you have the option.

Fun Fact

Grapes can be green, blue, or red and are available in stores year-round. Green grapes have a slightly fresher taste than the sweeter blue and red varieties. 85% of the world’s grape cultivation goes to the wine industry, but in Sweden, we consume about 2.5 kg per person per year.

Grapes add a pleasant sweetness to cooking, work excellently in fruit smoothies and salads, and are beautiful as garnishes, making them perfect accompaniments to buffets, finger foods, and cheese platters.
